The Business Design Centre launches its very own beach, right in the heart of Islington.

This exciting and unique project was born out of the desire for the BDC to create a relaxing space for staff, tenants and the local community to enjoy over the summer months.

Dominic Jones, CEO, BDC says “We first thought of this idea a couple of years ago and decided that this year would be the perfect time to go for it. In the current economic climate we thought that it would be a great idea to bring a bit of light-hearted fun to the local businesses and to the wider community.

I am delighted to say that the response from both our own tenants and passers by has been absolutely fantastic.”

The area is filled with sand, furnished with palm trees and deck chairs and, to complete the feel, has ambient music playing in the background – the space really brings a taste of summer to bustling Upper Street.

The BDC’s catering partners, The Good Eating Company, are serving a delicious beach BBQ menu, including tiger prawns, lamb kebabs, burgers, and even bbq’d chocolate bananas. There is also a children’s option so all visitors to the beach are definitely well catered for.

The 12m x 9m beach area will be open from Monday – Friday from 11am – 7pm throughout the Summer. It is manned by a member of BDC security at all time, with security staff dressed in Bermuda shorts & t-shirt to tie with the enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere of the space.
