BDC invests in new roof
In its 20th anniversary year the Business Design Centre will be investing in excess of £2 million on refurbishments to the venue.
On the 25th July work will begin to replace the roof light structures and gable ends of the impressive 16.5 metre high barrel-vaulted roof that covers the main exhibition hall. The work will take place over 2 calendar years, in a 5 week period between the end of July and beginning of September 2006 and 2007. With the work being scheduled to ensure it has no effect to the busy exhibition or conference calendar.
The work taking place is testament to the venues commitment to ongoing investment in the fabric of the building, to ensure that the venue is always maintained to the highest standard.
The current roof lights are being replaced by a state-of-the-art polycarbonate material; this new technology will not only improve the aesthetics of the roof but will also improve the insulation and allow a greater level of natural daylight.
“I am delighted that this work will be taking place and believe this indicates the level of commitment we give to the venue each year to ensure it remains London's most prestigious exhibition and conference venue.” Peter Clenshaw, Director of Exhibition Services.
In addition to the roof project the venue is also investing heavily in the already impressive Conference Centre, one of London's most diverse and flexible conference facilities.
In August a new fully upgraded and integrated acoustic walling system throughout the Auditorium & Conference Centre will be installed; this will not only improve the acoustics to the 7 available breakout rooms, but will also keep up with the growing need for contemporary and flexible space required by our clients. With a striking polar white finish, along with hi-spec vision panels, the new walling will not only exceed DDA requirements, but also the ever increasing expectations of conference and meeting bookers worldwide.
