12 Blogs of Xmas: Day 2 ~ Lyndsey Baron

02.12.2016 12 Blogs of Xmas: Day 2 ~ Lyndsey Baron

In our next #12blogsofXmas we are chatting to Venue Services Coordinator, Lyndsey Baron. This is the first year Lyndsey will be spending the festive season down South so let’s find out some of her Northern traditions!

How long have you been working at the venue and what’s your favourite thing about working here?

I started working here at the Business Design Centre, as a placement student, in August. I love how welcoming all the staff have been and I really felt like part of the team straight away. The venue is also very impressive and there is always something new going on with all the different shows we host- Country Living Christmas in November really got me in the festive mood!

Who is the most festive person in your office and how does your team celebrate?

This is my first Christmas with the Venue Services team so I can’t really give you an accurate suggestion here, but may I just add that Natalie Prew does have an elf’s hat at her desk…

Where is your favourite local spot to enjoy some festive drinks? (Or maybe Christmas markets and shopping in London?)

I’m actually new to the area, having only moved to London 4 months ago! But I have already been to Harrods to see the famous window displays and also went to Oxford Street Christmas light switch on, and it’s not even December yet. I’m mostly looking forward to experiencing Winter Wonderland and going to ‘An Evening of Cheese’ at Borough Market.

What are some of your favourite Christmas traditions, songs, foods, films?

Food –Pigs in blankets, stuffing balls and obviously because of the northerner in me, gravy.

Song –Elton John –Step into Christmas /The Pogues –Fairy Tale of New York / Slade –Merry Christmas Everybody

Film –This completely depends on my mood! I love them all! The Grinch/ Miracle on 34th Street / Elf / It’s a Wonderful Life / The Holiday (This one is my guilty pleasure, but Jude Law dancing…)

Finally, what does the New Year have in store for you and the Business Design? Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?

I’m really looking forward to coordinating on London Art Fair in January. Not only is it a challenge with it being one of the biggest shows here at the BDC, I also enjoy visiting other art fairs and art galleries in my spare time –living in London is a great place to be able to do this!
