12 Blogs of Xmas: Day 3 ~ Charlene Hayes
As the #12blogsofXmas continues, I grab a coffee with Charlene Hayes from our onsite AV Company, AVC Live (PSAV Company). Let’s take a look at how Charlene plans to celebrate Christmas this year…
How long have you been working at the venue? What’s your favourite thing about working here?
Overall I have been working for AVC Live for just over 12 years now, but we have been based at the venue for 8 years. Our previous offices were based in Longford Street but then we decided to be solely based at the BDC. My most favourite thing about working at the venue is the people. All the employees are so friendly and it is great to work on events within the venue. As well as this, we cannot forget about the venue itself, we definitely take it for granted.
Who is the most festive person in your office? How does your team celebrate?
It is definitely not me…I have done no Christmas shopping yet! From our office it has to be Evie, she has been asking about getting a Christmas tree this year to go in the office. We have a couple of celebrations; the AVC Live Christmas party tends to be in either December or January where we get some down time. However as an office we usually get together on Upper Street one night in the week to celebrate before we finish for the year.
Speaking of Upper Street, what is your favourite local spot to have some festive drinks? (Or maybe Christmas markets/shopping in London?)
It has to be the Old Queens Head for me, it has a great atmosphere and the upstairs area on a Friday and Saturday night is great! I have visited a few Christmas Markets in Berlin and Amsterdam, these can’t compare
What is your favourite Christmas tradition, song, food, film?
My favourite Christmas song has to be ‘All I want for Christmas’ by Mariah Carey however, a more traditional song would be Silent Night. For my favourite food, it has to be roast potatoes, I know you can have them all year round but there’s just something about them at Christmas time, I definitely put extra effort into making them. I will certainly be watching Home Alone and Love Actually this Christmas, they are my favourite!
What does the New Year have in store for you and your company? Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?
We have a busy year ahead of us as we will be launching our new app for clients to use. The app will consist of a 3D room where you can place different set ups onto the visual such as staging, back drops and you will also be able to add in the room set up that you require, for example theatre style or cabaret. The app will also feature a 360 view of the space which can be moved around to view the space with the equipment in. As for me, my New Year’s resolution has got to be save more – spend less!
