12 Blogs of Xmas: Day 4 ~ Ben and Leanne Pettyfer
Its day four of the #12blogsofxmas and time to interview the BDC’s first couple… Ben and Leanne Pettyfer. We find out what they’ll be doing for Christmas and who is the most festive…
How long have you been working at the venue and what’s your favourite thing about working here?
Leanne: I’ve been here six and half years, and what I love most is that I get to work everywhere – I spend a bit of time each week in the different departments. It’s especially great now I can work with Carly as I get to help out with the tenants Christmas lunch at this time of year.
Ben: I’m the same, I’ve been here three and a half years and am lucky to be able to work with Stewart and the tenants and I get to know the organisers at the venue.
L: Yes, it’s nice that we’re both free to do a bit of everything.
Who is the most festive person in your office and how does your team celebrate?
(Ben looks at Leanne…)
L: ME! I’ve been playing Christmas songs downstairs since September.
L: Working with everyone in the other departments means we get to celebrate with everyone.
B: Yes, and this year I’ll be cooking Christmas dinner with the Directors. It will be great to be involved with such a longstanding tradition and to be able to wish all the tenants a happy Christmas.
Your favourite local spot to have some festive drinks? (Or maybe Christmas markets and shopping in London?)
B: Radicals – it’s just nice to spend time with people you don’t normally get time to catch up with. It’s so local as well; you always bump into someone from the venue.
L: I love a Christmas Market. I’ve already been to Country Living here at the venue, Winter Wonderland, and have nearly finished my Christmas shopping.
Your favourite Christmas tradition, song, food, film?
B: Tradition? The Queen’s Speech…
L: I love Fairytale of New York and Home Alone.
B: Yes, me too. I don’t like Elf though. What’s the film where the boy gets them all singing at the end, that’s good?
B: Alright, well that bit’s good. I really like Christmas dinner too. I love turkey. Turkey sandwiches, turkey soup, ohhh and twiglets and a jar of pickled onions.
What does the New Year have in store for you/your company? Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?
B: Finish the house?
L: Personally, I’m looking forward to working on That’s Entertainment 2017 for the families of Islington alongside Islington Giving.
B: I’m raising money for Cancer Research with Sean, Terry and Feruzi – we’ll be walking the Shine Walk in September – I’m looking forward to that and also to getting to know some of the new organisers we’ll be having in!
