12 Blogs of Xmas: Day 10 ~ Sherry Thomas
As the #12blogsofxmas continues I take a seat with Sherry Thomas who is PA to Jack Morris and Dominic Jones. As Chief Organiser of the BDC Christmas parties, Sherry certainly knows how to celebrate in style! Let’s see what she has in store for the New Year…
How long have you been working at the venue? What’s your favourite thing about working here?
I joined the company 12 years ago in 2004! The best thing about working here is the people. We have an amazing culture at the BDC and we’re family. The other great thing is the building itself. The venue buzzes with exhibitions and conferences, plus we have all the lovely people from the showrooms keeping us in good company.
Where is your favourite local spot to have some festive drinks?
Camden Passage with its eclectic shops and restaurants is gorgeous all year round but particularly at this time of year. They always have such pretty Christmas lights which gets you in the festive mood. Kipferl is fab for delicious Austrian cakes and coffees (and great breakfasts!) and Fredericks has always been the place to go for a smart cocktail or two in their ritzy bar and restaurant.
Who are the most festive people in your office?
That’s definitely me and Carly. We have so many Christmas parties and ‘do’s’ to plan we usually have to start getting festive in July!
What is your favourite Christmas song, food, film?
Fairytale of New York, and Last Christmas by Wham! obviously! I love all Christmas food, especially all the veggies like roast parsnips, Brussel sprouts with bacon, cranberry sauce! Only thing I can’t stand is mince pies. One of my favourite Christmas films is The Cat in the Hat, it may not be Christmassy but it’s on every Christmas and it makes me laugh!
What does the New Year have in store for you/your company? Do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?
Well after I’ve tried to blank out my birthday in bleak and early Jan, the year always gets going pretty quickly, kicking off with the London Art Fair which we all look forward to. Then we’re usually in full swing for the year ahead, packed full of exciting projects and events. I never make New Year’s Resolutions as I always break them!
Make sure you take a look at the rest of our #12blogsofxmas to see what other BDC team members will be up to this Christmas!
