London Super Comic Con 2017!

The latest comic extravaganza is about to be unleashed!

London Super Comic Con (LSCC) is preparing to take over the venue from the 25th-27th August for their 3 day comic spectacular. Thousands of lucky comic fans will descend on the venue to experience the Super Comic world, meeting their heroes and socialising with other true fans. Special appearances will also be made by epic comic inspirations such as award-wining Marvel legend Brian Michael Bendis and Valiant, the award-winning publisher. Bendis explains his excitement;

“One of the great joys of my life is being able to pass down the knowledge I have accumulated over years of study. That is why I teach. That is why I wrote Words for Pictures.”

It’s a fantastic time for the industry itself as women in comics are well and truly on the rise! In support of this LSCC will feature some of the industry’s most talented females including Erica Schultz, Alison Sampson and Sabine Rich. Restoring equalisation in the male to female ratio in the industry is an exciting development for the comic world. Gary Morris, organiser of LSCC comments on this;

“It’s amazing to see such a shift in the industry recently. There’s still a way to go, but it’s positive to see moves towards a new equilibrium in the comic world and long may it continue.”

Of course we couldn’t talk about LSCC without mentioning a vital element of the show; cosplay! Visitors can expect to see an immense collection of well thought out and cleverly designed costumes throughout the weekend. There’s some guidance online to check out for visitors attending in cosplay.

After all of this the fun will then continue in to the early hours, as the party moves on to the O2 Academy Islington on (Saturday 26th August) with the theme of ‘Gotham After Midnight’.  Now in its sixth year, it is safe to say that this year’s LSCC is definitely set to be the best yet!
