It’s already October and less than 100 days till Christmas! Before we get all festive though, we have a busy month here at the BDC starting with Brides the Show (3rd-5th October). This is a must attend event for future brides as everything you need will be under one roof; from car hire to make-up to down to finding the right champagne to toast the bride and groom. The catwalk is also a great opportunity to see some fantastic dresses modelled, all styled by the shows director Bryony Toogood.

At the weekend the BDC is welcoming The Student World Fair which opens Sunday 5th October offering a perfect opportunity for students who want to study abroad to speak to universities from around the world and to chat to lecturers that will help to secure the chance of fulfilling the dream of exploring the globe. Along with talking face to face with academic professionals you also have the chance to join in with some of the seminars on the day giving you an insight into the admission process with confirmed speakers from USA, Hong Kong and Canada. There are also seminars containing financing at foreign universities.

JAX London 2014 follows, bringing Java, JVM and Enterprise Professionals together to get hands on in workshops with some of the industry experts. With 60 technical sessions to get involved with including keynote presentations and community networking events, the event is full of the latest knowledge and most up to date data. MIP 2014 opens on the 16th October 2014 and not only is it free to attend but it’s a great conference for NHS managers, commission managers, GP Partners, Business managers and Nursing staff managers.

For students between the ages of 15-23 the School Leavers & Apprenticeship Career Show on the 16th October is the chance to discover many different ways to train on the job, take on an apprenticeship or further education. With top employers such as the RAF, RBS, AON, Google and around 40 other employers it will give students a wide variety of businesses to network with and discover what they can gain from them. Workshops and seminars run throughout the day with speakers from government bodies, expert educational representatives and brought to a close by a Q&A session.  There is also the chance for exhibitors to network during the sharing panel to end the day with well-earned drinks. Shortly following is its sister event, the Diversity Careers Show which is open to undergraduates and graduates, giving them the chance to take part in highly engaging career developing activities.

We carry on October with more vocation related events in the form of BMJ Careers Fair which opens on the 17th & 18th October. It’s the perfect opportunity to sit down with experts and create CV’s, learn interview skills and help structure a career plan. Exhibitors are here to help delegates find a new job or identify the career that they should pursue. The exhibition hall is free of charge to enter but don’t forget to join the seminars and workshops you need to register and pay online to book a place in these sessions.

The First Time Buyer Home Show in its 5th year is the place to get a leg up onto the property ladder with exhibitors from home developers, financial advisors, mortgage consultants and interior experts.
