Music & Dance for Islington Giving
Last weekend saw two days of music and dance in support of Islington Giving, a charity launched in 2010 to fight poverty and create opportunity to improve people’s lives in the borough.
Saturday's dance classes, organised by members of staff at the BDC brought together Islington residents for a morning of line dancing and an afternoon of zumba. Instructors Karen and Zoe taught steps to raise money for the charity in the third annual event organised at the venue.
The following day Age UK Islington joined with partners from the Business Design Centre to host an Old Time Music Hall. With members of staff hosting tables of local residents who had been invited to enjoy the days entertainment. Acts ranging from Anna Fiorentini's Theatre and Film School (tenants at the venue), to Sing
Along with Danny, The Drovers Egyptian Dancers and David Girt's Charlie Chaplin provided 3 hours of entertainment. Over 250 invitees enjoyed and afternoon tea, performances and dancing.
By involving residents, businesses, community organisations and all those who have an interest in Islington, Islington Giving can make a real difference to those in need.
