London 2015 Europhilex
With a history of organising philatelic exhibitions dating back to 1890, it is easy to see how the London 2015 edition has amassed such an extensive range of exhibits. The show, open Wednesday 13th May, not only celebrates the 175th anniversary of the very first postage stamps but also the 125th anniversary of the show itself.
The event will see over one hundred dealers and postal administrations take part, along with 1,400 frames of competitive exhibits, seminars, an international auction and some special displays of world rarities amongst the many activities.
The extensive seminar programme offers all visitors a chance to find out more from the leaders of philately with topics ranging from forgeries of philatelic literature to planning and preparing a traditional class exhibit for stamp exhibitors. These take place throughout the event from Wednesday to Saturday with the Royal Mail also offering a range of seminars from their stand on the Ground Level. A visit to the Royal Mail stand should also be top of your list as there will be the entire Penny Black range on show as well as two limited edition releases that are exclusive to the exhibition.
Having such a prestigious event at the venue is understandably exciting, BDC Chief Operating Officer Graham Stephenson comments, “It’s wonderful to be able to host the fifteenth international philatelic exhibition to be held in London, here at the Business Design Centre. Celebrating the 175th anniversary of the first issue of the Penny Black is a great occasion for the philatelic community and the team here are excited to be working alongside them on what is set to be a fantastic show.”
To celebrate this momentous event there will be a range of London 2015 memorabilia with some exclusive limited edition items available at the show. You will find the Europhiliex shop on the Ground Level at the entrance to the exhibition.
