Tenant Advice

Tenant Advice

Whether you are here every day of the week or just work here now and again, we would like to ask you to consider the impact that you can have by making small changes in your approach to the environmental challenges we are facing. We ask all tenants and their guests to the venue to follow this advice when on site in order to become part of the solution…

USE PLATES AND CUTLERY THEN DROP OFF AT OUR POINTS

If you can’t eat in at Jack’s then we are happy for you to take your plates, knives, forks or mugs back to your offices. Once you have finished using them, then please drop them off at your nearest collection point in a nearby stairwell and the team at the Good Eating Company will come by to collect them. Alternatively, if you’re heading back to Jack’s then these can be left on the station opposite the hot food service area.

BRING YOUR REUSABLE CUP AND BOTTLE

Please bring your own reusable hot drinks cup and refillable water bottle to work. If you use a hot drinks cup in Jack's restaurant you will get 30p off teas or coffees. We have installed chilled filtered water dispensers on either side of the Mezzanine floor (middle level) by the central staircases. There is a third water point in the Gallery Hall, which is accessible to tenants when an event hasn’t got exclusivity on this space. There will be further points installed in the coming year.

USE MIXED RECYCLING BINS

In the coming weeks you will be provided with new mixed recycling bins for your offices and showrooms. The new service will see your mixed recycling collected on Tuesday and Thursday each week but if you need additional collections please contact Carly.

BE ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS OF WHAT YOU BRING INTO THE BUILDING

None of the waste that we create on site at the BDC goes to landfill. We have specific collections for items such as printer cartridges, batteries, however for all large items please contact Islington Council. If you think another tenant may be able to use something you no longer need then please let us know and we will send the information out.

We would still like you to consider what you are bringing into the venue however, so whether it’s avoiding picking up plastic cutlery with your lunch, or keeping a reusable bag in your desk drawer, we would ask you to look at making small changes to reduce waste.

CARTRIDGE RECYCLING

You can now turn your empty print cartridges into money for charity! Your office print and toner cartridges can be recycled if you hand them in at reception and then working with our facilities team, they are sent off to several companies depending on the type and all those received by Recycle4Charity will mean money is contributed directly to The Brain Tumour Charity.

LIGHTS, COMPUTERS AND OTHER DEVICES

At the end of the working day, we would like to ask that all offices and showrooms have their lights, computers and other devices switched off to conserve energy. We do however, request that during office working hours lights in showrooms are on. If you aren’t going to be in then please get in touch with us and we will be happy to assist in arranging to install a timer.

CYCLING AND SHOWERS

We have several shower facilities newly installed in the venue and hope that this means you will find it easier to cycle to work. There are also bike storage facilities in the car park which can be used free of charge.

CAR PARK CHARGING POINTS

The car park has electric charging points freely available for paying users on the top level and although we encourage travel to the venue using public transport, we will continue to look at the number of tenants who may wish to charge their vehicles in the onsite car park and plan for this accordingly in the coming years.

FIT OUTS & SWITCHING TO LED LIGHTING

Switching to low energy lighting is not only good for the consumption of energy, but will also impact your own rates. We advise that if you haven’t already then you can make the switch to LED lighting in your office or showroom. It’s also important that you consider the most sustainable options when fitting out a showroom or office. Paul Burke will be more than happy to discuss the products that are available and ways in which you can manage your fit out. In order to arrange this or to find out more please see how to contact the team below.
