Find out the best way to travel to the BDC during the planned strikes across the country’s rail network in September/October 2023.

Planned Strike Action across Rail Networks

There are planned train strikes across the Aslef rail and RMT London Underground networks in September and October 2023, so please check below and see our visiting us section before you travel.

Strike action for September and October 2023:

We are currently aware of strikes taking place on the following dates.

Aslef – members at 16 train operators* will walk out on the following dates:
  • Saturday 30th September
  • Wednesday 4th October

There will also be an overtime ban from September 29 to October 6 which will cause serious disruptions to the network.

*The train operators which will be affected include Avanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, c2c, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Greater Anglia, GTR Great Northern Thameslink, Great Western Railway, Island Line, LNER, Northern Trains, Southeastern, Southern and Gatwick Express, South Western Railway, TransPennine Express, and West Midlands Trains.

London Underground:

  • Wednesday 4th October
  • Friday 6th October

The rail industry is working hard to minimise the effect that this will have on their services but it is inevitable that services will be cancelled or severely disrupted. It is likely that there will be a very limited service on these days with no services at all on some routes.

You can keep up to date with the latest train and tube updates via the National Rail, Tube and Overground by visiting the TfL website below.
