Here’s everything else you need to know about making deliveries and unloading at the Business Design Centre.

Opening Times

The loading bay is open Monday – Friday, from 08.00 to 18.00. Bank holidays excluded.

For specific events, you may be able to load or unload outside of these hours. (Weekdays 08.00 – 2200, Saturday 08.00 – 20.00, Sunday 09.00 – 18.00)

Height Restrictions

The loading bay has several height restrictions to be aware of. If you would like to arrange a site visit before your event, please talk to your Event Manager.

The upper loading bay can take a maximum of 16 vehicles. We mainly reserve this space for larger vehicles, including articulated lorries and Luton vans.

The lower loading bay can take up to 30 vehicles.

Please leave the loading bay immediately after loading or unloading.


There are two goods lifts in the loading bay to help you deliver stands and other event materials. Here are the dimensions:

Main Hall goods lift (Upper loading bay)

  • Capacity – 3000kg.
  • Size – 3900mm long x 1900mm wide x 1900mm high.

Gallery Hall goods lift (Lower loading bay)

  • Capacity – 3000kg.
  • Size – 5500mm long x 2550mm wide x 2500mm high.

Please be aware that there are several doorways you will need to pass through when transporting materials from the goods lift to the exhibition spaces.

Important Loading Bay Information

To allow you to safely and efficiently unload whether you are here to set up an event or showroom, we have a large loading bay at the Business Design Centre.
  • Located to the rear of the BDC on Liverpool Road – satnav postcode N1 0QH.
  • Look for the ‘Goods In’ sign between Bromfield Street and Barford Street.
  • Drivers must make themselves aware of
    observing local traffic restrictions. 
  • All visitors must report to the security office on arrival.
  • There is no pedestrian access through the loading bay barrier.
  • High visibility clothing must be worn in the loading bay.
  • Please ensure that you are wearing appropriate covered footwear when moving around the loading bay. Inappropriate footwear including high heels and open toe shoes are prohibited during the build-up and breakdown period of events.
  • Please keep your hazard lights on when moving and limit your speed to 5mph.
  • All rubbish must be taken away by exhibitors. We charge a fee to dispose of anything left behind.
  • No children allowed in the loading bay at any time.
  • There is substantial provision for vehicles under 2
    metres in height to load and unload from the car
    park at the front of the BDC. 
  • There will be no access to the Loading Bay in the last 30 minutes of a build-up or breakdown period.
