BDC today shares that Marketing & Communications Director, Kate Vandenburg, is set to leave the business at the end of the year, departing London for a new chapter in France. Starting at the organisation in 2007 as then Project Coordinator, Kate has followed the path many have taken in rising the ranks of the BDC working in events then venue sales before joining the Board as Marketing Director in 2018.

Over the past eighteen years, Kate’s role has evolved to incorporate her passions for sustainability and work in the wider community alongside her position in marketing. She has been a driver in sustainable development at the venue, participating in many industry initiatives as well as working closely with charities that include Islington Giving and Local Village Network.

Kate shares further,

“After almost two decades working at the Business Design Centre, I have made the difficult decision to leave the company at the end of this year and begin a new chapter in France, alongside my husband.

It’s an amazing journey to look back on. Working at the BDC and within the events industry has inspired and fulfilled me in ways I could never have imagined, and I cannot count all of the experiences that I have been lucky enough to enjoy, or the places it has taken me.

It’s very bittersweet to be moving on from a business, community and industry that I’ve been privileged to be part of for so long. Over the years, I’ve had the honour of working with many brilliant colleagues and clients, passionate leaders, charities and other initiatives and of course, my friends – the extraordinary BDC team, who are nothing short of incredible.

I would like to thank everyone I have had the pleasure of spending these past eighteen years with; you have made the journey immeasurably rewarding, meaningful, and truly memorable. I’d also like to thank my family, in particular my husband, Ollie, for his support and for taking this leap with me into our new adventure. Whist change isn’t always easy nor is the decision to go; I’m really excited about embracing this next phase together.”

Chief Commercial Officer, Max Bull adds,

“Following eighteen years of outstanding service, Kate is now embarking on a wonderful next chapter. Her leadership, loyalty, and deep knowledge of our business have made an enduring difference, and whilst her absence will be felt across the organisation, I thank Kate sincerely for her many years of dedication in what she has achieved.

Her departure marks the end of a significant phase for both herself and the work she has done over many years, but it also represents the beginning of an exciting new journey. We have no doubt that she will bring the same passion and enthusiasm to whatever comes next and both I, and the wider company wish her every success on the road ahead.”
