Meet our Head of Marketing, Giulia, who joined us in April 2026.

The Business Design Centre’s greatest strength is its people. Bringing together a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and expertise, our team plays a crucial role in making everything from events to day-to-day operations possible.

As part of our People of the BDC series, we’re introducing Head of Marketing, Giulia Barazza.

With an academic background in English and German and a passion for storytelling, Giulia leads the our marketing team, developing marketing campaigns, content and brand initiatives designed to share the stories behind the Business Design Centre and support its continued growth.

Let’s find out more about her career journey, aspirations for the future and life beyond the office.

What was your journey into the marketing industry?

“Like many people working in marketing, I somewhat ‘fell’ into the industry,” Giulia explains. “While completing my Master’s degree at the University of Exeter nearly a decade ago, I attended a talk about the transferable skills that literature graduates can bring to creative industries such as marketing and event management.

“At the time, events were my primary focus, as I already had experience in hospitality and catering while working in Italy, the ambition was to become an event planner.”

Alongside that interest, a new opportunity emerged. Exposure to the marketing side of the events industry revealed a passion for storytelling, content creation and audience engagement.

“I realised that I had a natural flair for writing blogs and newsletters, as well as creating engaging content for social media.”

After helping a small Italian jewellery business establish its online presence, Giulia decided to formalise those skills through a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, and launched her career in the education and finance sectors, before securing a position as Marketing Executive for a London venue.

“The rest is history!”

What aspects of your role have you found most rewarding so far?

For someone who enjoys planning, setting goals and connecting ideas across different areas of a business, the Business Design Centre has proved to be an ideal environment for Giulia.

“The BDC is a fantastic venue and an equally fantastic place to work. The people here are what make it so special. From day one, I have felt welcomed by colleagues across the organisation, making it easy to build strong relationships and have open, honest conversations.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been the openness to fresh ideas and new perspectives. Having recently stepped into a senior leadership position, the trust and support shown by the team has been particularly meaningful.

It’s incredibly encouraging to work somewhere that listens and embraces new ways of thinking.”

What are you most looking forward to at the BDC?

Looking ahead, Giulia’s focus is firmly on building upon the strong foundations already established by the marketing team while celebrating everything that makes the Business Design Centre unique.

“I’m excited to build on the BDC’s incredible heritage,” Giulia says. “My focus is on continuing to elevate our brand, strengthen our communications and find new ways to tell the stories that make the Business Design Centre such a special place.”

Have you found a favourite place to eat in Islington

Choosing a favourite restaurant in Islington is no easy task due to the huge variety that is available, but a couple of local gems stand out for Giulia.

“Gallipoli is definitely one of my favourites and one of the best Turkish restaurants I’ve ever visited. I am not ashamed to say that I have already been a few times over my soon-to-be 6 months at the BDC.

Another favourite of mine is Ima Sushi in Exmouth Market, a fully plant-based sushi restaurant that consistently impresses.

I would highly recommend it to everyone, even people who aren’t vegetarian. The dishes are so rich and well presented that you won’t miss the fish.”

Now we look to find out a bit more about Giulia outside of work.

How would you spend your ideal weekend?

Despite working in the fast-paced world of marketing and events, Giulia’s ideal weekend is refreshingly simple.

“I’d love to say I’m a party person, but the reality is that I love a cosy weekend.

Every weekend begins the same way: pizza on a Friday night. Beyond that, the perfect few days are all about recharging. Reading in bed with a coffee, heading to the gym or out for a run, catching up with friends over an early dinner.

My perfect Sunday would include a visit to a farmer’s market, a coffee date with my partner and a home-cooked meal, finished off with a feel-good film before an early night.”

What is your most memorable holiday to date?

“For all the wrong reasons, probably a recent summer trip to Corfu. It was my first visit to Greece and, unfortunately, I was not prepared for the number of wasps on the island that year.

Anyone who knows me will know that I have a genuine phobia of wasps. Suffice to say, while I loved the sunshine, the sea and incredible food, I definitely enjoyed the evenings most, when no wasps were attempting to steal my gyros!”
